Why are you posting this for us? Uhm...because I'd feel like a bitchface for not sharing at least an excerpt with all the pushing and motivation all of you have given me so far. :D
Notes: I know I'm posting this on day two but it's still work from day one and I shall be treating it as such TYVM! >| Just a small bit spurred on from our last word war last night with, uhm, Snuzz, Riah, Fae, Jade, Ciaran and others. Imagery is a little out of whack and it's a little choppy but I expect to get into my rhythm as the days wear on. Enjoy!
“Where’s mommy?” she asked, a touch of urgency in her voice that no child should be denied.
The old man, Mr. Roger’s, face faltered, wrinkles sinking into a more sullen look as he gazed upon the terrified girl. From what the doctors had told him, she was only seven. A seven year old girl who had lost everything. Had the situation been any different, he himself would not be there with her. But this was what fate had brought upon her.
The air in the room grew thick with fear and uncertainty as the awaited an answer. Mr. Roger was himself only had so many details, being that he was not in any way related to this girl and would just be turned away if he tried. That was what the social worker was for. She too was there, with the special paper work from both Mr. Roger and the very benefactor and founder of the institute this girl was to be in. The moment they doctors knew of her fate, they were to call Social Services who in turn would do the grunt work and, if they found the child qualified, would make a special phone call to Mr. Roger himself.
But this was not the time to explain the protocol to a girl who had yet to hear the news of her family. All he could offer to her, just as he had done with many others in the past, was offer her whatever comfort he could when that time came.
